This contract was undertaken as part of British Waterways' three year project to transform North Staffordshire canals into a series of green routes underpinning the areas of economic and social revival. The project objective was to contribute to North Staffordshire becoming a premier and high quality visitor destination. For this reason it was paramount that our work be both to the highest visual and safety standards.
AH Stone Walling were contracted to rebuild the stonework in several places along the canalside and lay a section of traditional cobbled towpath. This work needed to both support the new towpath and match existing work in a bid to recreate its original state.
This was a project of particular interest to us as we were improving our local area. Working alongside the dredging company contracted to lay the towpath and dredge the canal we succeeded in reviving the area for local residents to enjoy for many years to come.
